Migraines suck. Ask any migraineur, and they’ll tell you. A migraine isn’t just a headache, it’s a neurological problem that tends to come with other symptoms too.. For me, sometimes it’s hard to speak or hard to think. Sometimes the rest of my body gets really sore. Sometimes tinnitus flares up loudly, and I get even more sensitive to sound and light than usual. I’m not a fan!
Currently, I’m on day 14 of a migraine that doesn’t want to stop. Thankfully, it’s pretty mild at the moment (perhaps it’s tapering off? maybe??). I’m working on getting some outpatient IV meds to try and knock it out, but it takes a bit of time to get an appointment. The meds they provide in the ER usually aren’t effective enough for me, so I just have to wait for now.
On the bright side, things are getting done for this new “Above Ground” record. I’ve got artwork now. I just had a friend send over some cello tracks for a song. I’m figuring out the design for a cassette package. There are a few minor musical things I’d still like to do when my brain isn’t on fire, but I’m grateful for the forward motion.
The new Lucy Dacus video makes me sentimental for Richmond. I can’t get that dang Phoebe Bridgers song out of my head; the surprise late-night performance with an electric kid band and then with an older acoustic band were both pretty touching. Oh, and that Spontaneous Music Live (SML) record is pretty mind-opening. There’s always more to hear, even if it hurts to hear anything at all.
